Guess who made the preliminary Bram Stoker Awards ballot?

To my unending surprise, a story of mine showed up on the preliminary ballot for the Bram Stoker Awards in the Short Fiction category.

Why am I so surprised? It’s flash. Yep, all of 650 words, soaking wet.

The story is called “Cold, Silent and Dark,” and I wrote it for Undercurrents, a sea monster-themed, charity anthology. If that sounds like your thing, the link is below. My publisher, Wordfire Press made the story available for the consideration of voting HWA members, but anyone else is welcome to read it, too.

Cold, Silent, and Dark” is also eligible for the 2018 Hugo and Nebula Awards.

My con schedule for 2019

FebruarySuperstars Writing Seminar

Superstars focuses on the business end of writing, but they added a Craft day for you craft diehards. This one is like Old Home Week for me. I’ll go back every year until they take out the restraining order.

AprilWriters of the Future

This is another one I’ll be doing every year for the foreseeable future.

MayStokerCon (tentative)

The dark horse. StokerCon is far away and therefore expensive, but if I make the final ballot, I’ll see what I can do.

May/JuneLibertyCon

My new favorite con! Small, super-friendly, and you should see the cake shop down the street!
